"Well, it is nearly Christmas again! I’m excited about the Christmas weddings I have coming up this year. I love the time of year, and Christmas weddings always have such a lovely feel to them. I thought I would share a few words and pictures from one of my favourite Christmas weddings" writes Nikki Bowling, wedding photographer and founder of York Wedding Industry Network.
"Angela and Sean’s day was amazing! They had chosen the amazing Allerton Castle as their venue. I have been a wedding photographer for almost 15 years now, yet before Angela and Sean’s wedding I had never worked at this venue, despite always wanting to. It didn’t disappoint!
I arrived at the castle to get some lovely pics of Angela getting ready – I love all the beautiful details and candid shots that can be done here. The room looked absolutely gorgeous and when I saw Angela’s dress I was blown away. Very different yet stunning. We got some fab shots of the bridal preps, and then it was down to the snooker room for some candid shots of the boys.
After capturing guests arriving, it was time for the ceremony. Angela looked beautiful as she walked down the sweeping staircase towards her guests and Sean waiting. The ceremony itself was so personal, and my favourite part was when an owl swooped down the staircase carrying the rings.
After the ceremony we did a few group shots outside (it was cold!) and I then took Angela and Sean to some favourite spots within the castle grounds to get some pics of the two of them before it got too dark. We used the wedding car and the castle as a backdrop for some of the pics, and I love the fact that had bought the car themselves and done it up, especially for their day!
After these pics we went back inside and got a great shot of all the guests arranged in a heart shape (with the help of Michael who was the amazing toast master). We also used one of the state rooms for more group shots – one of the most beautiful rooms I have ever worked in!
Once the formal photos were done, I was able to wander around capturing those candid moments that make each special day unique. The reception room was all set up for the meal, and the attention to detail (by Angela herself as well as Allerton staff) was second to none. The room looked absolutely amazing! Classy, Christmassy, castley, all rolled in to one!
I was so pleased that Angela and Sean had booked me to stay on in to the evening. I love capturing the speeches and the first dance, and in this case, the awesome fireworks which Angela and Sean had booked as a surprise for their guests. And what a show it was! Fireworks with the backdrop of the beautiful castle was the the perfect end to the perfect day.
Everything about this wedding was amazing. The details, Angela’s two dresses (day and evening!), the venue, the décor….. the list goes on. And to top it all off, Angela and Sean are such lovely down to earth people and were a real pleasure to work with.
