Louisa Starr is a celebrant and member of York Wedding Industry Network. Here she shares her highlights of 2016
"Well, 2016 has been certainly an eventful year for Starr Gazing Ceremonies! My second year of being an Independent Celebrant has seen me performing wedding ceremonies in various locations around Yorkshire as well as appearing on Channel 5 performing a caravan lovers ceremony, an interview on BBC Radio York and basically fully loving the job that I do!
Every single couple this year has had a totally unique and personalised ceremony to ensure it is THEIR ceremony only. I have had a variety of traditional style ones to pagan handfasting, Disney-themed, travelling-theme, Disco-orientated and many more types of ceremonies.
I have become friends with each couple and thoroughly enjoyed working with them in order to create something different to the norm.
I have also discovered many venues that are different to the norm too as the festival-style wedding is very popular at the moment. Hidden country glamping site gems I have worked at include:
I have also had the privilege of performing ceremonies in people's back gardens too making it an extra special venue for the couple.
Carry on Caravanning
My appearance on Carry on Caravanning was great fun and we had such a laugh on the day and then seeing it on TV was even better!
I worked with Zena from Boodika Events at a venue called Deighton Lodge this year for Matthew and Lucy's year and despite the thunder storm and rain that day, had a great time as I had the pleasure of working along side the brass band that both bride and groom were members of. It made it a very special and uplifting ceremony indeed. Bookings are coming in now for next year so here's to 2017!!
